They grow up so fast

THIS IS A BIG YEAR FOR ME. MY BABY IS TURNING TEN.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of Canadian auto dealer magazine. Ten years ago, we created the magazine that has been the leading Canadian magazine for Canada’s new car dealers ever since.

For 10 years, we have been partnered with Rick Gauthier and the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) in creating the most important media channels for Canada’s new car dealers. For 10 years, we have been collaborating with the provincial dealer associations from coast to coast in covering this market.

Starting with the November/December 2005 issue, Canadian auto dealer has been focused on helping dealers navigate a business that is undergoing profound change. We added Affaires automobiles about six months after that first issue, expanding our coverage to both of Canada’s official languages.

Since that time we have evolved to include strong websites, e-newsletters and video coverage. Our most recent video newscasts from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) show in the U.S. and the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association’s (TADA) Ontario Dealer Day show how far we’ve come.

Still, at our core, is the magazine. The issue that you hold now is the biggest one we have ever done. Our last few years have been our best ever. And we’ve never been more excited about what’s ahead than we are right now.

We’re opening a new office in Vancouver, B.C. to deepen our connection to Western dealers and the associations that represent them (read more about his one page 30). We’re expanding the staff in our Toronto office with the addition of publishing and automotive veterans Kathy Liotta and Philippe Crowe. We are doing more work than we ever have in the creation and support of dealer events across the country. Pretty heady stuff.

This has been a massive team effort across the years. There are many people that need to be recognized, but I won’t do it here. We’ll throw a party later in the year to do that. Stay tuned for more information and if you can make it, please drop by.
