Another electric vehicle charging infrastructure company announced that they will add the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector to its fast-charging networks by 2025.
Electrify America plans to add the connector to its Canadian and American network of chargers, while still providing the Combined Charging System (CCS-1) connector as it makes the transition.
“Since our founding, we have focused on building an inclusive and open hyper-fast charging network to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles,” said Robert Barrosa, President and CEO of Electrify America, in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to support industry-wide standards that increase vehicle interoperability and streamline public charging.”
The company plans to offer a NACS connector option at present and future charging stations for EV owners within the next few years. It currently has more than 850 charging stations with approximately 4,000 individual chargers in Canada and the United States. Those stations include chargers at 150 kilowatts (kW) and 350kW.
“As the company’s inclusion of the NACS connector continues to evolve, Electrify America will share further updates on its progress, along with current and future station update plans over the coming months,” said Electrify America in a news release.
