Latest vehicles on display at the EV 2011 Electric Vehicles Conference and Trade show

More than a dozen of the latest generation electric vehicles available in the Canadian market were on display at the EV 2011 Electric Vehicles Conference and Trade show held in September in Toronto.

From small vehicles designed for urban commutes, to commercial vans, a full range of new products were available for consumers to check out, crawl inside and tire kick.

Also on display were goods and services from companies that will provide the infrastructure required to support the coming age of the electric vehicle. This includes things like portable and installed electric vehicle charging stations, services to recycle and dispose of batteries, and software tools designed to help manage and measure EV and gas fuel efficiency for fleet buyers. The event was staged by Electric Mobility Canada, the leading industry association that serves this industry.

The conference track featured more than 60 speakers from Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia who tackled technical, governmental and business issues related to the growth and sustainability of the industry.

A highlight of the conference, was the OEM panel where electric vehicle manufacturers took the stage to outline their company’s plans and to field questions from delegates. The impact of the new wave of vehicle’s on dealers is a topic that was discussed, and some OEMs say they are now investing in the training required to both sell and service the vehicles.

Next year’s event, EV 2012 Conference and Trade show takes place from October 23-26 in Montreal, Que. For more information visit: www.emc-mec.ca.
