Smart Canada releases pricing on fourtwo electric drive

Pricing for Smart’s latest vehicle, the third generation electric drive EV, based on the fourtwo has now been officially announced. The electric drive Coupe will sport a MSRP of $26,990 in Canada, while the Cabriolet version will list at $29,990.

Featuring a 55-kilowatt electric motor that generates 96 lb-ft of torque and enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, the smart fourtwo electric drive is deemed the lowest priced option for electric mobility in Canada.

Able to reach a top speed of 120 km/h the electric drive boasts a driving range of approximately 145 kilometres, dealers are already taking orders for the pint sized EV, which will officially go on sale next Spring.

Distinguished on the outside by a bigger grille, new bumpers and wider door sills, plus standard LED lighting, standard equipment runs to power windows, heated seats, electrically adjustable mirrors (with a built-in heat function) and air conditioning. Safety equipment includes the smart tridion safety cell, plus electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution.

“The new smart fortwo electric drive has garnered significant attention since its official debut earlier this year,” declared Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO, Mercedes Benz Canada. “I am extremely pleased that the pre-ordering program we introduced has generated a lot of excitement at our dealerships in anticipation of next year’s official launch.

Alongside the fourtwo electric drive, smart Canada is also launching an electrically propelled ebike, to compliment the car as a concept of urban mobility.
