KBB announces 2023 Brand Image winners; Tesla claims multiple awards

Kelley Blue Book recently announced the winners of its 2023 Brand Image Award winners, which includes a new Best EV Brand Award category.

The awards are based on data regarding annual new-car buyer perception, as the categories consider car shoppers of in-market luxury, non-luxury, and truck and electric vehicles (EVs) who plan to buy within the next 12 months.

“As the automotive landscape continues to shift and evolve with more and more electric vehicles entering the scene from various automakers every year, the experts at Kelley Blue Book found it suitable for the times to introduce a new award category this year, Best Overall EV Brand,” said Vanessa Ton, Senior Research and Marketing Intelligence Manager at Cox Automotive, in a statement.

She added that KBB’s consumer perception data for new-car shoppers helped name Tesla as the first winner of the new category this year.

The EV car maker also won Best Overall Luxury Brand for the fourth consecutive year, among numerous other 2023 Brand Image Award wins—thanks to Tesla’s “superior technology innovations, unparalleled performance, and its refined, striking designs.”

For the 2023 Brand Image Award Winners in the non-luxury brands category, the winners are Honda (Best Overall Brand, Best Value Brand), Toyota (Most Trusted Brand), Dodge (Most Refined Brand, Best Performance Brand), and Ford (Best Car Styling Brand).

For the 2023 Brand Image Award Winner in the Truck Brand category, Toyota takes the “gold” with Best Overall Truck Brand.

And in the 2023 Brand Image Award Winners: Luxury Brands, Lexus was the Most Trusted Luxury Brand and Porsche was the Best Car Styling Luxury Brand. Tesla, as previously mentioned, won the rest (Best Overall Luxury Brand, Best Value Luxury Brand, Most Refined Luxury Brand, Best Performance Luxury Brand—and, separately, Best Overall EV Brand in the EV category).
