The CADA Summit is born!

Top-notch speakers will challenge and inspire dealers

For the better part of a year, a small team has been meeting regularly around the boardroom table in the offices of the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) offices to plan a kick-ass event for dealers.

I was fortunate enough to be part of that event planning team, and I’m now proud to tell you that the first CADA Summit will be held February 13, 2013 at the Hilton Toronto. This truly is one dealer focused event you really don’t want to miss. (Seats are limited so book now if you want a spot: www.cadasummit.ca)

With so much change afoot in our industry, CADA’s leadership wanted to bring together speakers who could speak to the past, but more importantly help paint a clearer picture of the future for dealers. That vision was outlined in a CADA Whitepaper that defined what Canada’s dealer network of the future will look like, and what CADA must do to meet the future needs of its membership. That vision will now be brought to life on stage by experts and insiders who will alert you to the trends that will have a major impact on your business.

In developing the event, it was exciting to work from a blank slate, and to kick around ideas for speakers, session topics and formats with no limitations.

Would dealers want to hear from President Obama’s former “Car Czar” about what really happened behind the scenes during the historic restructuring of the auto industry?

Would they want to hear from Bob Lutz, one of the most well known auto executives in the world, an iconic and outspoken figure whose drive for design innovation helped reshape GM?

Would they want to hear from Jim Carroll, one of the world’s leading futurists, who will help them gain a better perspective on their changing customers?

Would they want to hear from retail experts who will tell them about consumer trends and patterns that are affecting all retailers and not just automotive?

Would they want to hear from economists and banking experts who can speak to the climate we are in and what to expect in the months and years ahead?

Would they want to hear from other dealers who have been recognized and honoured as among the elite of Canada’s dealers?

Would they want to hear from senior OEM executives, and major media pundits who cover the automotive sector?

The answer, of course, is yes to all of the above. And thanks to a generous and exclusive sponsorship from TD auto Finance, we were able to bring you all the speakers from our wish list, and are able to create the auto industry event of the year. I hope to see you there.
