Honda donates $300K to Ontario hospital’s maternal child health program

The Honda Canada Foundation will donate $300,000 to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation in Newmarket, Ont., over a three-year period to create a positive impact in the communities where Honda associates and dealers live and work.

The foundation announced the news in a press release ahead of Mother’s Day, as the funds will be used to support the Southlake Regional Health Centre — and specifically, to help buy equipment for the Maternal Child Health Program.

“As our communities continue to grow, more families will depend on the exceptional care offered at Southlake’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” said Tony Facciolo, Chair of Honda Canada Foundation, in a statement. One of the pillars of the Honda Canada Foundation is to support families.

The first installment of the donation will go towards three Panda Warmers, which are used in the birthing unit to maintain a temperature-controlled environment for newborns. The warmers can also monitor and track trends in temperature, weight, and oxygen saturation levels.

According to the Honda Canada Foundation, more than 2,600 babies are born in Southlake annually. Five-hundred of them require advanced care and are placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
