Electric Circuit’s new fast-charging stations with power sharing headed to Québec

A small city located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Québec will soon have access to fast-charging electric vehicle stations with power sharing, according to an announcement from the Electric Circuit.

“Our goal remains the same: to make the charging experience as simple and efficient as possible for EV drivers in Québec,” said France Lampron, Head of Electric Circuit, in a statement. The new satellite-based charging stations will be set up in Rivière-du-Loup.

The stations were manufactured by Kempower of Finland and distributed in Québec by Bornes Québec. They include three dual charging outlets that share a total of 500 kW of power, distributed among the connected vehicles based on their charging capacities.

“The Kempower charging stations are already proven to work in Finnish winter conditions,” said Guy Lamarche, General Manager of Bornes Québec, in a statement. “The tried-and-tested technology is perfectly adapted to our climate and the diversity of electric vehicles on Québec’s roads.”

The concept of dynamic power sharing is to simplify the user experience by sending the maximum power available to each vehicle based on its capacity. The first of the new chargers will be installed at 80 Boulevard Cartier in Rivière-du-Loup. A St-Hubert restaurant gave up part of its lot for the charging station — St-Hubert being a founding member of the Electric Circuit.
