Hyundai Canada recognized for culture that integrates diversity and inclusion

Hyundai Auto Canada recently received accolades for Best Workplace Culture and the CCDI Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion during the 10th anniversary celebration of the annual Canadian Human Resources Awards, which took place at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Ont., on Sept. 20.

The awards are meant to showcase Hyundai Canada’s organizational culture within the automotive industry sector which, in a news release, it said is done by integrating diversity and inclusion at the heart of its business. This culture then spreads to the OEM’s partners, suppliers, and external business representatives.

“This is the Academy Awards of the HR world, and it is incredible recognition for the Hyundai Canada team to win two national HR awards and be nominated in six different categories,” said Kirk Merrett, Director of Human Resources at Hyundai Canada, in a statement.

In thanking the company leadership team, Merrett said they will continue to create a workplace that allows all team members to feel welcome and appreciated. “We also appreciate the individual contributions of team members at every level who show up to work with the attitude of true team players, and there(by) augment a fun and supportive culture,” she added.

Last year, Hyundai Canada launched its WAH marketing campaign with the goal of building a bridge between the Canadian pride and Korean heritage of the organization. It also combined a campaign focused on a customer-driven culture and integrated diversity, equity and inclusion in its five core values.
