HoneyBadger Charging installed its first public EV charging station on Vancouver Island this week. The company was founded and is owned by University of Victoria (UVIC) alumnus Andrew Johns and is located at 1854 Emery Pl, Victoria, B.C. — near the campus.
“We envision a country crisscrossed with a robust network of charging stations, empowering drivers to embrace sustainable transportation and shape their journey towards a greener tomorrow,” said Johns in a statement. “Launching our first public charging station right next to my alma mater fills me with pride and excitement.”
He adds that the launch is a testament to “the power of education and determination to drive positive change.”
In a news release, the company said its mission is to extend beyond B.C. to the rest of Canada and eventually have an extensive network of charging stations. The company is also inviting residents, businesses, and EV enthusiasts to join the greater movement towards creating a cleaner and sustainable future.
“By strategically placing its inaugural public charging station near the University of Victoria, the company aims to inspire the younger generation and lead by example,” said HoneyBadger Charging.
